  • Performance Notes:
What a great show! Sorry about no posting after show but I didn't get to bed until 5:15 am!!! Too many people to see and talk to. Sucks though that they made the tapers tape from the balcony instead of the main floor. I didn't particularly like the sound from up there. I miss Bob!!! I thought the sound wasn't mixed too well on NEM's set. Oh well, we'll see how these come out.

The house was packed and even though it wasn't shown as sold out, it was by the time the doors opened. NEM hit the stage exactly at 8 pm and did close to an hour set with a half hour break before Mule took the stage and did the whole Life Before Insanity on the first set including I Know You Rider and Sometimes Salvation with Chris, Paul and George Laks sitting in with Mule. I can't describe the intense vibe happening during these tunes. It was euphoric and electric to say the least. The harmonies on I Know You Rider were beautiful. Chris really wailed on Salvation. Chris and Warren and the guys were feeding off of the crowd's response when they were doing these two tunes. Paul's guitar added so much to the sound. George Laks was sitting with Danny Louis on the keys (weird expressions and all) and with the two of them playing, it also added more depth to the sound. Andy Hess did a great job on the bass and Matt is....well Matt...no description necessary. I hope the tapes do the show justice.

Well, round two tonight and there will be so many more people to meet. I wonder what tonight's set lists will bring. - [lilsexie]

Last night's show was amazing! Very sleepy to write a review, but these were some of the highlights...

Heard 2 of the new songs - Sea Of Love, a total hard rocker, very jamming, and Girl On the Mountain - this song has some amazing lyrics! I can't wait to hear this song some more, and get the full feel of it.

The ultimate surprise was Waiting in Vain.... man, I was not expecting this AT ALL! They start with this reggae beat, and play it out... Chris is getting his groove on, dancing all over the stage... Then it hit me what song it was, and I couldn't believe it! It sounded so beautiful! I love that part where he sings "Oooohh girl, Ooooooh, girl...." Chris was really into it. At one time we were just enjoying the song so much, dancing, eyes closed.... I had to turn to my sister, and say "Watch Chris singing..." because he was so in the moment, and singing his heart out. It was really special.

I have to say the crowd was awesome for New Earth Mud!! There really seemed to be a lot of support for them. Of course, with the Mule there are always those hard-core fans. But to me the most energy in that place that night was during New Earth Mud.

And when Chris & Paul joined the Mule onstage????? Forget about it! The house went crazy! It totally pumped the crowp up again, after a very long Mule set. It was awesome to see! I Know You Rider sounds freekin' incredible with ALL of them jamming out on it. SOO good! And then they broke into Sometimes Salvation, and I think everyone almost dropped dead in the crowd..... Such a great moment!! It was great to see Chris just SINGING again, no guitar, dancing, with every bit of soul & passion in his voice that we know he has!!! He had a huge smile on his face the whole time, it felt like he was loving it... Some people I was talking to after the show, said they'd heard it a few times already on this tour, and this was the best one so far!!

Can't wait to hear the tapes, but that's a while down the road! First we all got some more live Mud to see!!!

Night One of Five for me - can't wait to see what else is in store!! peace - [Maria]

Man I tell you what...I've seen the mule around 5 times and I like them and all but...NEM is just so much more dynamic! The whole Mule set seemed like one long song...the same one...when NEM jams it's always different.

Hi Speed---what a way to start the show! great jams and Reif just went nuts on the base

Sea of Love---can't wait for this hard tune on the album

Train Robbers-reeled the mule fans in on this one---changed lyric from I was an Indian to Jeronamo.

    Sunday Sound--best version I've heard---because of chris

Waiting in Vain--perfect cover for the vibe

Girl on the Mountain---people have commented that it has been rough at times...no signs of that tonight...my favorite of the new songs of the set.

RIDE!!!!!!---hated the song on the album but love it more and more every time live WHAT A JAM!

was I the only one to notice that the crowed was into the most during Rider and Salvation?

Chris looked so at ease and happy on stage!

    can't wait for tomorrow!

my girlfriend and I had the privelege of taking some new fans that thought NEM should have played the whole night!

CHRIS KEEP THE MUD GOING! - [smaze]
