Tonights scheduled performance of Chris Robinson and The New Earth Mud at the Rave in Milwaukee has been cancelled.
Chris thought it would be unfair for fans to see the show in such a sub-standard setting. Evidently the setup of the venue didn't allow for the majority of those viewing the stage to do so without their view being obstructed.
Chris deeply regrets not being able to perform for the fans in Milwaukee but promises to be back to the city at a proper setting soon.
Tickets for tonights show can be refunded at the place of purchase.

Chris Robinson Bags Fall Tour
Edited By Jonathan Cohen. August 18, 2004, 6:00 PM ET
Chris Robinson has canceled plans for a fall tour with his band The New Earth Mud, amid growing speculation that he may re-team with his brother Rich under the Black Crowes moniker. As previously reported, the siblings have met recently with former manager Pete Angelus to discuss a potential reunion.
Rich Robinson is prepping for the Aug. 24 release of his solo debut, "Paper," via his own Key Hole imprint. There's no word yet if he will tour in support of the set, in the wake of recently completed pre-release residencies in New York, Philadelphia and Boston.
Also foreshadowing a reunion is the recent reactivation of the Black Crowes' Web site, which has been largely dormant since the group announced a hiatus in 2002. The site hosts animation of two crow heads with lit joints in their mouths, as live Black Crowes audio clips play in the background.

In keeping in line
With the season of change
We raise our glasses
And bid a fond farewell
To the New Earth Mud
As we knew it.
And it is with no small fanfare
That we again raise our glasses
And toast the New Earth Mud
As we will now know it.
Everyone say Hello to yours truely,
Singing, strumming and harmonica blowin'.
On guitar will be Mr. Audley Freed
On Bass; Mr. George Reiff
On Drums is Mr. Steve Distanislal
And our new resident rocket scientist
and keyboard player to be named shortly.
So let your freak flag fly
Long hair doesn't cost a thing
Peace...Cornbread...Acid...Tea...Karma.

CHRIS ROBINSON & THE NEW EARTH MUD
RETURN JUNE 29 WITH 'THIS MAGNIFICENT DISTANCE,'
THEIR DEBUT ALBUM ON VECTOR RECORDINGS;
FIRST TRACK FOR RADIO IS '40 DAYS';
SET FOR BONNAROO JUNE 11 AND A STRING OF JULY DATES WITH THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND
"I want to find a common ground where thought, action and soulfulness meet emotion and experience--that was kind of the motivating factor behind the whole album," says CHRIS ROBINSON about THIS MAGNIFICENT DISTANCE. Due out June 29, it's the debut album with his band THE NEW EARTH MUD for Vector Recordings and marks the follow-up to 2002's solo New Earth Mud disc.
THIS MAGNIFICENT DISTANCE is a work that draws on the vast panorama of American music--rock, blues, folk, country, soul and elements of jazz--and ROBINSON personalizes it with his compelling vocals, free-spirited melodies and vivid lyrics in which he looks inwards and at the world around him. The album moves seamlessly from the chugging immediacy of the fiercely rocking "40 Days" ("a storm-a-comin'-kind-of tune," he says), which goes to radio in mid-May; to the richly yearning "Like A Tumbleweed In Eden"; to the dreamy, expansive "Girl On The Mountain"; to the album's pointed rave-up "Piece of Wind" (about America's loss of free-thinking values).
"Like A Tumbleweed In Eden" is a song "about freedom--that's the underlying theme," says ROBINSON. "My first album sounds like a Sunday morning record--it's about being in love--and this one brings up a lot of questions about freedom. And what does freedom mean, because I don't think it's the freedom to consume. I think in America people have forgotten their imagination." ROBINSON adds: "If you can't go to artists without any political and/or corporate affiliation to get the straight answer, who are you gonna go to? To me, that's truly where this record lies. It's a crossroads between my emotion and my experiences. It's truly a place in the here and now."
Other highlights of the Los Angeles-recorded album include "Train Robbers," "Surgical Glove" and "…If You See California," of which ROBINSON--a Southerner who now calls Los Angeles home--says, "I like the question posed by '…If You See California'--well, what is California? Is it a state of mind? Is it a physical place? It is a transcendental place? For me," he adds, "California has always been an inspiration. Look at all of the musicians who have moved here over the years to make music, like Lowell George, Neil Young and Stephen Stills. I also think there's still people here who believe in a lot of things that the counter-culture hit on in the '60s and '70s."
For THIS MAGNIFICENT DISTANCE, ROBINSON penned five songs and co-wrote six with Paul Stacey and one with Audley Freed, formerly of The Black Crowes. The tracks were produced and mixed by ROBINSON with Paul, except for "Mother of Stone" and "Like A Tumbleweeed in Eden," both produced and mixed by Ethan Johns with ROBINSON. The album's core of players--ROBINSON (guitar, harmonica), George Laks (keyboards), George Reiff (bass), Jeremy Stacey (drums, percussion) and Paul Stacey (guitar)--are joined on various tracks by Ethan Johns (drums), Richard Causon (keyboards) and Audley Freed (guitars). "Most of this album was done with a group of musicians I had been on the road with, so we'd just set up in the studio and start cutting tracks live, and I think that always is going to create a different vibe. On the last album, I would play acoustic guitar to a rhythm track, and we would build around that."
ROBINSON will share THIS MAGNIFICENT DISTANCE on the road this year backed by the recently revised line-up of THE NEW EARTH MUD: Audley Freed (guitar), George Reiff (bass), Steve Distanislao (drums) and Rob Barraco (keyboards). They're set for a June 11 performance in Tennessee at Bonnaroo, (the largest festival in America), and a string of July dates with the Allman Brothers Band, July 9-17 (see dates below), with whom ROBINSON made a special guest appearance (vocals and harmonica on "Key To The Highway") March 18 at the Beacon Theatre in NYC. These dates follow ROBINSON's shows last year with Elvis Costello (on which ROBINSON performed acoustically) and Gov't Mule (electrified THE NEW EARTH MUD).

Saturday evening, 06/26/04, in Boston right after the show had ended, someone walked off with Rob Barraco's Dragon Fly Tie-Dye mural that he has been draping over his Hammond B3 for as long as anyone can remember. Rob naturally would like to have this item returned to him as it has been with him for a long time and he already misses it.
If you took the Tie-Dye or can aid in its return, please contact us at DRAGON FLY TIE-DYE.
Hopefully we can get this back and on the tour with Rob where it belongs!
UPDATE - 07/19/04:
Well good news to report this afternoon; Rob's Dragon Fly Tye-Die mural has been returned to him. Rob is more than stoked and everyone is excited to see it hanging back where it belongs.
Thanks to all the positive vibes that surely helped in it's return!
